Day Seven - Kirkby Stephen to Keld
Fri. 15th May 2009
Overnight:- Jolly Farmers: - Another really good B&B and a hostess who could not do enough for you even done to ringing around other accommodation trying to track down Richard and Gail our Canadian friends. Breakfast was smashing, we both had an omelet, we were getting bored with the Full English every day, it was obviously made with free range eggs -simply gorgeous

About time I had the chance of a sit down
|
From here on as we climbed the weather deteriorated and can be summed very simply: -
Rain - the fine sort you know the sort, makes you very wet
Wind - Gusts of it straight into the face making progress very hard going
Cold - Wind chill freezing the parts other winds cannot reach
Mist - Minimal visibility. As we left the Rigg the ground turned into a very deep peat bog. The path was very indecernable, my glasses were so wet I could see very little through them. Glad we had the GPS to follow otherwise it would have been compass bearing all the way down

4 of the 9. The mist and rain was so heavy that
you couldn't see any more than 4 at any one time
